About Me
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in May of 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Certificate in Digital Studies.
While my degree was still in the mail, I moved to Chicago to start my career at a startup digital advertising agency, where I developed a passion for data storytelling.
I pulled raw numbers and turned them into narratives that readers could understand, even without a strong data literacy or expertise in marketing. I learned to take complex concepts and break them down into clear and easily understandable takeaways, and I created visual narratives about marketing performance and business growth with programs like PowerBI and Google Data Studio.
Over the next five years, I bounced between Chicago and Madison working in digital marketing roles first for digital marketing agencies, and then for a faith-based nonprofit called Catholic Extension.
I discovered firsthand at Catholic Extension the power good storytelling has to amplify the voices of the underserved, and to build communities. The national nonprofit raises money for poor Catholic churches through the United States.
In my roles, first in communications then in fundraising, I shared the stories of the communities we supported and build up support among our donorbase, especially during COVID-19.
I want to tell stories and build communities that drive change and produce impact through powerful, throughful and accessible journalism.
